Location: Various Venues
The Glasgow International Jazz Festival was founded in 1987, when Glasgow was bidding to become the European City of Culture for 1990. The City had studied the competition and worked out that all major cities in Europe had a jazz festival. If they had one, then so should Glasgow.
From the very beginning, the Glasgow International Jazz Festival brought some of the biggest names of jazz to the City – 1987’s programme included singer Sarah Vaughan, Chick Corea, Taj Mahal, Benny Carter and Carol Kidd. Other top headliners include Miles Davis (during the European City of Culture year 1990), Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Guy, Michael Brecker and Tony Bennett

This summer's lineup includes Stormzy, George Ezra, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Snow Patrol, but there'll also be the opportunity to catch emerging artists on the scene over at the King Tut's stage.
Bars, restaurants, and nightclubs surround Glasgow Green so you can continue the party into the early hours once you've belted out your favourite tunes with 50,000 other festival-goers.

Location: Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, G52 1HH
Glasgow Summer Sessions is an outdoor summer concert series in the city's Bellahouston Park, attracting around 100,000 people each year for its lineup of rock, indie, dance and hip-hop stars.
The first headliner announced for 2019 is The Cure, who will headline the series on Friday 16th August. This will be the iconic British rock bands first Scottish gig in 27 years, following on from the band's 40th anniversary celebrations in 2018. They will be joined on the night by Mogwai, The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable.
Joining them will be the Foo Fighters, who will headline the event on Saturday 17 August. Dave Grohl and co. have been a firm staple at the top of festival bills for nearly two decades, having cemented their status as one of the world's biggest rock bands, consistently wowing fans with elongated sets that not only deliver the hits, but include a whole host of covers and other surprises.
Headlining on Sunday 25 August will be indie band of the moment The 1975. Following the releases of their latest studio album in the space of a few months, they will top a bill that includes Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six and Pale Waves in Glasgow.
For drinks and after-parties, there's not many better cities. Beer lovers should head to WEST Brewery, Clockwork Beer Co. or Drygate, which are not just incredible breweries, but are also great starting points before you head out into the early hours at places like St. Luke's, Art School, Hillhead Bookclub or beGin.
